The Boys: Season 3 Press Event

Agency WMA approached us to help Amazon Prime UK stream a press event for series, The Boys, Season 3. Located at the famous Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, the VIP event consisted of journalists and members of the press, with a virtual audience watching the stream from home on the Amazon Prime UK Twitch channel.

This interactive stream had over 67,000 views, with hundreds of comments and questions sent in throughout the event.

Objectives.

Amazon Prime UK needed full production and live stream management, as well as on-screen graphic design, question moderation, and live stream management of live and pre-recorded content.

What we did.

We were tasked with creating a full multi-camera production as well as managing the interactive live stream to Twitch enabling live questions to the talent on-site through Twitch comments and various iPads. The internet at the venue was unreliable so we opted to use multiple LiveU’s to send a primary and backup feed to our London office where we streamed to Twitch using our encoders. We also used a LiveU in databridge mode to provide a steady network connection for the host to stream separately to his personal Twitch page as a promotion. We also provided and configured a Decimator converter and SDI to USB capture device to ingest his camera feed to his laptop.

We created the on-screen graphics and managed the live and on-demand content throughout the stream and on-site in the venue so the event was as seamless as possible for the audience in the cinema and online.

With over 67,000 views and hundreds of comments and questions sent in throughout the stream. Amazon and WMA were really pleased with the amount of engagement with the event as well as the quality of the stream in terms of production. We’re really pleased to have a great relationship with WMA and Amazon Prime, continuing to do live events for all of their Twitch Watch parties and series premieres.
