Groovy Gecko has joined forces with Liverpool Football Club (LFC) to provide the Premier League team with streaming solutions for its official website.

As part of the two-year deal, Groovy Gecko will provide project management and consultancy for Liverpoolfc.tv, while also taking charge of the website’s live commentary webcasting, downloads and bespoke Flash player development.

Michael Crowder, operations manager at LFC, welcomed the “technical innovation” Groovy Gecko will provide to help the team present its brand to its global fanbase.

“Groovy Gecko understood what was involved and delivered to meet our launch date,” he said.

“They worked seamlessly with our internal team and we were impressed with their ability to solve complex problems and meet strict deadlines and budgets, while still providing our fans with a superior quality of service.”

Groovy Gecko’s managing director Craig Moehl, said LFC’s forward-thinking ethos enables the award-winning streaming solutions company to “support them in providing and moulding new technologies to meet their current and future requirements”.

Security on Windows Media and Flash formats has been implemented on streams and downloads to comply with the FA’s regulations and to safeguard subscription revenues.

LFC’s website features the latest news, text updates and live match commentaries, as well as a live simulcast of the club’s TV channel. The portal is the most popular official team site in the Premier League, having won the Hitwise 2008 award.
