July is turning out to be an even sunnier month for Groovy Gecko than expected! That’s because we’ve nominated in two separate awards: the Streaming Media Europe Reader’s Choice Awards 2018 and the Digiday Marketing and Advertising Awards Europe 2018!
The Reader’s Choice
We know that Groovy Gecko is the best streaming services provider and we hope that our customers think the same, but do Streaming Media’s European readers think so too? Well soon we’ll find out, because Groovy Gecko has been nominated for FIVE Streaming Media Europe Reader’s Choice Awards!
This is the third year in a row that Groovy has been shortlisted in these awards, and we couldn’t be happier to say that this year we have been nominated in more categories than ever. Every industry award nomination is special in our eyes, but the Streaming Media Reader’s Choice Awards are just that little bit more, simply because it’s the readers that get to have their say.
If you think we deserve your votes (we really hope so) please click here – best be quick though, voting closes on August 3rd. In case you need more persuading, here’s some additional info about the categories and why we’ve been nominated:
1. Best Streaming Innovation
According to Streaming Media, this is the “catch-all” category, for simply the coolest, most innovative streaming product, service, or event. Groovy Gecko is nominated twice in this category. Once for our Facebook Live Gender Equality event with the Chartered Management Institute and again for our Competition Features on Facebook Live.
Our gender equality event was a Facebook Live Project for the Chartered Management Institute which involved using a bespoke tool to serve only male viewers with a disrupted screen part-way through, in order to bring attention to gender inequality at the point when the gender pay gap kicks in. Male viewers were unable to vote on polls or ask questions. The stream can still be watched here.
In the same category, Groovy Gecko’s Competition Features has been nominated. The Competition Feature allows any live social stream to be run as a competition with viewers able to interact in complex competitions to win prizes.
2. Best Webcast Platform
In this category our Live Presentation System has been nominated. This system makes it possible to live stream unique experiences, as well as enabling multi-language webcasts and a number of interactive features, including our polling tool and comment moderation. It’s what we used to live stream projects BP, Old Mutual and many others.
3. Enterprise Video Solution
Nominations in this category should be, according to Streaming Media, the platform large organizations should consider first when looking to create their own internal YouTube or other company-wide video solution.
The self-managed version of our Live Presentation System has been nominated for best Enterprise Video solution. This version provides organisations with the in-house ability to deliver fully professional live streams to external platforms like social media, but also internally, perhaps for internal comms or training. You can read more about live video for internal comms in our Business Development Director’s article here.
4. Online Video Platform
As a corporate video platform, Groovy Gecko’s Online Video Platform (OVP) makes it easy for organisations to make the best use of their content. It allows users to upload all on-demand video files to one location ready to be transcoded into every format required, and then distributed to various audiences based on their location, areas of responsibility or role, and so on. It’s nominated for best Online Video Platform.
5. Streaming Services Provider
Last but certainly not least, Groovy Gecko has been nominated as the best Streaming Services Provider. It would be an absolute honour to be voted as such by the Streaming Media readers, so we hope we deserve your vote. We’re working with amazing customers every day to push the boundaries of what is possible in live streaming, both technically and creatively. It is our goal to always be at the forefront of developing live technology for some of the world’s biggest brands including, Virgin Games, UNICEF, Nike, Amnesty International, Renault, and Instagram.

Digiday Marketing and Advertising Awards Europe 2018
It’s not every day you get nominated for one award, but this July it’s happened twice! Our work with Iris for Barclaycard on the project “The Barclaycard 31-day challenge” has been shortlisted for a Digiday Marketing and Advertising Award in the category ‘Best Use of Real-Time Streaming Video’. It’s feels really great to have the project recognised for its ability to reach and attract new viewers and we’re super proud.
For the live streamed project, Giovanna Fletcher was challenged to try something new every single day in January. From sports photography with Sir Bradley Wiggins to cake decorating with Great British Bake Off’s Liam Charles, a selection of Giovanna’s challenges were live streamed into Barclaycard’s Facebook page. You can find out more about the Barclaycard 31-day Challenge here, and more information about the Digiday Marketing and Advertising Awards can be found here. Winners will be announced in November so sign up to our newsletter if you’d like to stay in-the-loop.
