TESCO Easter egg hunt

We helped Tesco stream a wild Easter egg hunt competition inside their largest Big Tesco to their Twitter channel, which got over 3.7M views!
There’s already a cult of Big Tesco fans on social, so where better to have a big egg hunt?

Objectives.

Tesco wanted to create a special Easter campaign on Twitter to help gain share of voice in the run up to the Easter Holidays on social media. The aim was to use the Tesco Easter Hashtag #CrackingEaster to drive entries and engagement with the brand ahead of the Easter Weekend.

What we did.

Tesco brought in two comedians to host an egg hunt inside a big Tesco with hidden eggs in the O’s of their logo, and we filmed and streamed it live on Twitter. Every 5 minutes, the hosts gave a clue leading to the location of an egg logo somewhere inside the store which led to various locations and prizes. Viewers were asked to comment their guesses using the hashtag, #CrackingEaster, which our bespoke tool scraped and fed through to the hosts who interacted with the commenters in real time and gave vouchers and other prizes to the commenters who guessed correctly.

We were filming in one of the largest Tesco’s in the UK (the Borehamwood Superstore) with 2 levels, meaning we had to extend the RF to reach all corners of the store. The SteadiCam op did a great job dodging the trolley snakes and obstacles set up to add some chaos to the stream, while also shooting with PTZ’s for a sleek look overall. We embedded various live graphics so viewers could see the hosts interacting with commenters live.

the results.

The Tesco and BBH teams were thrilled with the results of this live stream, with a whopping 3.7 million views and over 5.000 entries using their hashtag. The event went smoothly with 16 winners throughout the competition.
