Groovy Gecko worked with agency VCCP to live stream 16 hours of various families sitting in a glass living room on the Southbank, showcasing the ‘wonders of family life’ to encourage people to email their local MP’s to support the Refugee Family Reunion Bill so refugees settled in the UK can be with their families, too.
Our collaboration on “The Undeniable Wonders of Family Life” won in Marketing for Good and Live Brand Experience at the Marketing New Thinking Awards, with creative agency partner VCCP taking home the Agency of the Year award as well as being shortlisted for Creativepool’s 2019 Most Effective campaign and Best Experiential campaign.
Objectives.
Amnesty International wanted to deliver a campaign that encouraged people to email their local MP’s to vote for the Family Reunion Bill which would reunite refugee families torn apart by the existing UK law for refugees settled here. To extend the reach of this campaign, they wanted to live stream the event as well as exhibit to passers-by on the Southbank.
What we did.
Our team of 4 did all the video production as well as streaming management of this Southbank exhibition. We streamed the footage to multiple pages across Facebook as well as Twitter. In total, we filmed and streamed over 16 hours across two days.
the results.
This live stream saw a total of 58,000 views with nearly 14,000 emails sent to a local member of parliament asking them to help change the law as a result of the exhibition. On the 16th of March, 129 MP’s voted in favour of the Refugee Family Reunion Bill; A monumental step that will reunite thousands of refugee families in the UK and give them back the greatest gift on earth: the undeniable wonder of family life.
